Meet the tallest artwork in our Canton Express exhibition. 🗻🏢 . “City” by Liang Juhui is an immense mixed-media installation with multiple hexagonal tiers stacked to form a pagoda. In the windows of each tier are photographs of the backs of people in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Pingyao. A digital video projected on the floor shows overlapping images of people, objects, and buildings. . These images are evidence of the transformation of small Chinese cities into metropolises. The large work evokes a space where natural and man-made urban environments collapse together in a never-ending city expansion. . See “City” at #CantonExpress in the M+ Pavilion until 10 September!
